PITTSBURGH – The summer of 2017 has been a successful year for US track & field athletes on the international scene. Team USA brought home 30 medals at the 2017 IAAF World Championships in London breaking American records and decades long historical marks.

The USATF Three Rivers Association also found success in international competition with Masters athlete Jo Rupp. She participated in the North and Central America and Caribbean Region of World Masters Athletics Championships held in Ontario, Canada August 11- 13th. The event features 1000 athletes from 26 countries. It is contested in conjunction with the Canadian Athletics Masters Championships (NCCWMA) which has been contested since 1974.  Rupp ran the W40 2000 meter steeplechase taking gold in a time of 8:43.69, over 40 seconds faster than the silver medalist!

Jo Rupp has been a prominent figure in the TRA masters scene for years. She’s participated in dozens of road races and Association Championships and was featured in the Association’s rebranding campaign back in 2015, “A Sport for Everyone….for life!”
