NORTH CHILI, NEW YORK — TRA youth athletes made the trip to Black Creek Park on November 22nd for the Region 2 Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships. 55 athletes participated against competitors from Mid-Atlantic, New Jersey and Niagara Associations for a chance to advance to the Nationals. 45 (roughly 82%) athletes qualified for the event to be held December 12th in Albuquerque, NM.
Three Rivers youth athletes continued their impressive club participation streak sending 9 teams to the regional meet. These included: Greensburg YMCA, Penn Hills Eagles Track Club, Get Fit Families, Valley Speedsters, Pacer Track Club, River City Elite, Mountain Top Track & Field, Wings of Moon, and AK Track & Field. Get Fit Families had the largest contingent with 18 total athletes. 6 unattached athletes also represented the Association.
While there were no individual Region 2 Champions from the association, several athletes achieved top 3 performances in their age divisions:

Get Fit Families’ 11-12 Girls were the lone team to qualify for the national competition placing 2nd with a total score of 42 points. Team members included Tara Lucot, Alaina Hicks, Maddie Gagnon, Elizabeth Hunkele, and Gianna Rotelli.
