Pittsburgh – – Half a dozen Three Rivers youth athletes attended the 2017 USATF National Youth Outdoor Championships in Lisle, IL from June 26-30. This competition was on the heels of the Association Championships and provided a great tune-up for the impending Region 2 Championships.

Maura Huwalt of South Park Track slow the most success winning the 15-16 girls discus throw with a launch of 40.51m (132-11). Huwalt also picked up a pair of silver medals in the shot put and javelin throw.

Huwalt’s teammates, Sam Hartman and Brian Thomas Riley also performed well reaching the finals in their respective disciplines.

As late as April, this Championship was not on the calendar. However, the USATF Illinois Association stepped up and put on a great competition in just 7 weeks. This was the 4th time the Association hosted this competition, welcoming back over 1300 athletes back to Lisle and the Chicagoland area.
