Open & Masters athletes take home cash prizes for several fall races

PITTSBURGH — The Three Rivers Association has awarded open & masters athletes prize money for participation in several events throughout the fall.

The first event was the 10K LDR Championships which was held in conjunction with the Lois Stobbs Memorial Veterans 10k in Wheeling, West Virginia on November 5^th.  The 1^st place/$100 prize winner for the open division was Stewart Jones. He was the overall 1^st place winner and has achieved this feat for the last 3 years. Jones shares his passion for running by speaking on behalf of the Pittsburgh Marathon in urban schools. Topics include running and wellness.

A day later, on November 6^th, several of the TRA open runners participated in the USATF TRA 10 Mile LDR Championships which was held in conjunction with the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler. The following athletes received prize money:

The 2016 TRA Open & Masters Cross Country Championships was contested on November 13^th. Dominic Wyzomirski , of  Steel City TC, won $50 as the 1^st place Master Men finisher. 2^nd place was awarded to Larry Vandyke for $25. Latonya Salley-Sharif won the $50/1^st place prize for master women.

Our open and masters athletes rounded out November racing with the PNC YMCA Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day. This event served as the TRA 5K LDR Championships. Melissa Migliaro of Steel City TC earned a 1^st place/$100 award. Some familiar faces earned prize money in the men’s competition divisions.
