Youth Cross Country Challenge is Back!
The 2016 Youth Cross Country Challenge is back for its second year with more events, more competition and improved prizes! Started in 2015, the YXCC is a competition designed to increase interest in the sport and highlight the physical and competitive benefits of distance running. The series consists of several meets where athletes participate and earn points towards a final series score. Individuals and clubs will be rewarded at the end of the series winning several cool prizes and a chance to be named Youth Cross Country Challenge Champions!
Last year, nearly 200 athletes and 14 teams participated in the Challenge making it the most successful cross country season in years. This year, there is increased excitement around the Challenge as athletes and teams look to defend titles and improve 2015 performances.
The Association hopes to increase last year’s numbers and has even enhanced prizes to help entice and encourage athletes and teams to participate. Each age division champion will receive a medal, t-shirt, spike bag and recognition on the website. The first place team will receive a custom, 10×10 tent from Fast Canopies, the top 3 teams will receive spike bags for all participants, and meet drawings will be conducted for each developmental meet and award various USATF merchandize and memorabilia.
